Miami Beach was incorporated in 1915 on a narrow barrier island between Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic. Ocean Drive runs the length of South Beach past the largest concentration of Art Deco architecture in the world, most of it built in the 1930s and 40s. The bay side glows amber at dusk. The ocean side never really quiets down.
